What does A Day in Kotatieva with Sauna and Hot Tub include?
A day in Kotatieva with Sauna and Hot Tub -ticket includes entrance to Kotatieva Winter Leisure Park, all the activities, the equipment needed for the activities, and a traditional Finnish sauna and hot tub. Is Kotatieva suitable for small children?
Our winter leisure park is suitable for small children. If your child is not able to ice skate yet, she/he can go on ice with you in a toboggan or a kick-sledge. Small children can enjoy our sled hill and sleigh carousel, and they can play in snow with snow toys.rnrnIf your child is in a buggy, you can push it on the ice skating trail while you are ice skating.rnrnWe have a warm and cosy changing room and a café where you can take care of children comfortably.rnrnChildren under 3-years-old visit us free of charge.
If I don’t have any experience in ice skating?
Worry not, because ice skating in Kotatieva is suitable for beginners. Most our visitors don’t have any previous experience in ice skating but they have enjoyed themselves a lot. We provide ice skating push supports both for children and adults, and you can also use a kick-sled as a support. Elbow and knee pads are also provided.

How can I get to Kotatieva?
There are several options for arriving to Kotatieva. You can arrive either by your own car or by taking a taxi. Is there visitor limitations in Kotatieva?
Kotatieva’s daily visitor limit is 50 people. We want to guarantee every visitor the opportunity to enjoy a peaceful environment without the crowds of tourists.
Is there indoor spaces in Kotatieva?
We have a Lappish Hut with an open fire where you can warm up. There’s also a spacious, warm changing room where to change your equipment and warm up.rnrnFor the winter season 2023-2024 we are opening a new restaurant where you can enjoy café products, lunch and warm snacks.
What should I wear for my visit?
Before your visit be sure to check the weather forecast for your visit date. Dress the way the weather requires. We recommend wearing at least a quilted jacket and trousers, warm shoes, a beanie and gloves (mittens are the warmest), and woolen or thermal socks. On cold days (when the temperature goes -10 or under that) put on more layers. A tube scarf is good to have to be worn under the helmet when skating – we also provide them if you don’t have your own.
Where can I get ice skates?
You’ll have all the equipment needed for the activities from Kotatieva. You don’t need to bring any equipment with you. But if you want to use your own ice skates, helmet etc, that is okay too.
Can I get something to eat during my visit to Kotatieva?
There is a restaurant in the area, where you can buy café products, snacks, and lunch. You can also buy sausages which you can toast over open fire.rnrnPlease note that u003cstrongu003ebringing your own food or snacks is not allowedu003c/strongu003e.
Can I bring my own snacks with me?
Bringing your own snacks or food to Kotatieva is not allowed. We provide café and restaurant services which are run by our small family business, and we wish you can respect our rules.rnrnBringing baby food for your baby is allowed, or, if you have special dietary, it’s ok to bring your own special snack but in that case please inform our staff members about it.

Aurora Skating
Is Aurora Skating a private event?
Yes, Aurora Skating is a private event. When you book the Aurora Skating, there will be no other tickets available anymore for the same evening. That means you can enjoy the park all to yourselves.
What does Aurora Skating include?
Aurora Skating is an evenging programme which includes ice skating in the darkness on our forest track with the light of headlamps (equipment are provided by Kotatieva) and a dinner in our cosy café-restaurant.rnrnTransportation service can be included to Aurora Skating as an additional service, which you can book at the same time with your tickets.
What does Aurora Skating with Sauna and Hot Tub include?
Aurora Skating with Sauna and Hot Tub includes the same activities as Aurora Skating but in addition to that there is a traditional Finnish sauna and hot tub for you to enjoy.
How long does Aurora Skating take?
The duration of Aurora Skating is three hours including the transportation.rnrnAurora Skating takes place from 6pm to 9pm.
How long does Aurora Skating with Sauna and Hot Tub take?

What does the dinner include?

How do I prepare for my visit?
All you need is warm outdoor clothes (winter clothes, woolen socks, warm beanie, good quality handwear), remember the camera and bunch of adventurous mood!rnrnIf you booked Aurora Skating with Sauna and Hot Tub, you will need to bring you own swimming gear. Everything else is provided by us.

How do I get to Kotatieva?
You can either arrive by your own car, by a taxi, or book the transportation service via us.rnrnIf you book Aurora Skating with transportation service, the pick-up and drop-off address is your accommodation address in Rovaniemi town area. When booking the tickets with transportation, please let us know your pick-up address.
Is Kotatieva Winter Leisure Park open at the same time with Aurora Skating?
Kotatieva Winter Leisure Park closes at 3 pm every day and Aurora Skating is arranged in the evening starting at 6pm. There are no other people in the area at the same time.
Will I see the Northern Lights?
Unfortunately the Northern Lights can never be guaranteed to be spotted. The appearance of the Northern Lights requires clear skies. The appearance is also dependable on the activity of the sun’s magnetic activity. There are many apps and websites available which predict the appearance of the Northern Lights. Some of them includes alerts when the activity is rising.rnEven if the Northern Lights won’t appear, the ice skating in completely dark surroundings, on a clear night with the moon and the stars, will be a magical experience.
Is there any limitations for the visitors?
The maximum amount of attending the Aurora Skating is 8 persons.rnrnHowever, if you want to book the evening for a bigger group, please contact us on info@kotatieva.fi and we will send you a tailored offer.
Sauna and Hot Tub
What kind of sauna is there in Kotatieva?
The sauna is traditional wood-burning Finnish log sauna of more 80 years of age. It is optimal fro max. 6 people at a time.
How about the hot tub?
The hot tub is a round, wood-heating tub which is optimal for 4 adults at a time, or for 2-3 adults and 1-3 children.rnrnThe hot tub is located outside right next to sauna. There is a fence around the sauna and hot tub so you can enjoy it privately.
How should I prepare for the sauna and hot tub?
For the sauna and hot tub expierience you will get pre-instructions after booking. Are sauna and hot tub suitable for children?
Sauna and hot tub are suitable for children, and people of all ages. Children must be supervised in sauna and hot tub at all times.
Is there any possible health issues in going to sauna?
Basically going to the sauna is safe for everyone. Please consult your doctor if you have any medical condition which could potentially be triggered by taking a sauna, hot tub or a dip in snow.
